VOLUMA SERVICES AT image Dermatology ® P.C. IN MONTCLAIR, NJ

The field of cosmetic dermatology is constantly evolving, with solutions to a number of the common concerns that go along with aging. Juvéderm Voluma is a newer product in the line of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers designed specifically for the purpose of volume restoration. What is being accomplished with this treatment protocol is astounding, with patients looking and feeling years younger. Juvéderm Voluma, currently the only FDA-approved non-surgical solution for instant correction of age-related volume loss, is commonly used on the cheeks, cheekbones, and chin. This product also allows us to create more definition in the cheeks and jawline, often lost when the skin on the face loosens and sags. A primary benefit of treatment, outside of beautiful results, is that fullness lasts up to 18 months, making Juvéderm Voluma incredibly cost-effective.

THE JUVÉDERM VOLUMA PROCESS

Treatment always begins with a consultation in which Dr. Downie listens to the patient’s concerns about facial changes. When we understand the ultimate result that a patient desires to achieve, we can tailor treatment precisely to their needs. The skin is then examined, and the best type of treatment is discussed.

Juvéderm Voluma is gently injected into the deeper layers of the skin where indicated. Dr. Downie plans treatment areas in a way that will lift the cheeks and define the chin, ultimately creating harmony among the various facial features. Treatment aims to accomplish a subtle, natural change that removes years from the face.

Patients who feel anxious about injectable treatment will be happy to hear that topical numbing cream is available and can be applied before treatment. Juvéderm Voluma also contains lidocaine in the filler solution, adding greater comfort as treatment progresses. A treatment session lasts 10 – 15 minutes as Dr. Downie carefully inserts the filler with great precision. The results achieved with this filler will be immediately noticeable, and both male and female patients will leave our office feeling refreshed and confident in their appearance.

SIDE EFFECTS AND RECOVERY

Voluma Montclair NJ Photo

Juvederm Voluma is a wonderful minimally invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery. There is no downtime associated with treatment, and patients may take advantage of additional treatment to accomplish optimal results. Side effects include bruising, swelling, and slight tenderness. There is no recovery time, and patients can resume normal activities immediately. Exercising should be put off for 24 hours.

RISKS

In clinical trials, only five percent of patients experienced these side effects, which resolved quickly. Only 8 percent of patients in clinical trials experienced swelling or hematoma, and no instances of product migration were reported.

Within a day after treatment, patients are able to resume their normal activities comfortably. Should discomfort persist, we can suggest solutions to handle it until comfort improves naturally. Discomfort associated with Juvéderm Voluma is due to the product’s thicker consistency and the depth at which the solution is applied.

WE ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT JUVÉDERM VOLUMA

WHY USE JUVÉDERM VOLUMA OVER OTHER DERMAL FILLERS?

Juvéderm Voluma stands out from other dermal fillers in that it is designed for injections deep in the dermis, leading to true volumizing in the cheeks, cheekbones, and chin. Though other fillers may be ideal for plumping deep creases around the nose and mouth, Juvéderm Voluma is designed for the specific purpose of creating volume where it has been lost.

CAN I GET JUVÉDERM VOLUMA TREATMENT WITHOUT A DOCTOR?

The robust viscosity, or thickness, of this product, sets Juvéderm Voluma apart from traditional dermal fillers. Due to the unique characteristics of the filler solution, specialized training is provided to physicians who wish to offer volumizing treatment to their patients. For optimal outcomes, restoring volume in the cheeks and chin should be performed only with an expertly trained physician.

HOW IS JUVÉDERM VOLUMA INJECTED?

Different from conventional fillers, Juvéderm Voluma is designed with more fullness. This filler is intended for lifting and volumizing facial structure, which occurs when the solution is injected into the deep dermis. Injection into the uppermost layer of skin would result in the product being visible in the form of lumps or discoloration.

CAN I ADD VOLUME TO MY LIPS WITH JUVÉDERM VOLUMA?

This filler is designed to add volume to larger areas such as the cheeks and chin. Because of the thickness of the filler solution, it is not intended for lip augmentation. A less viscous filler may achieve fuller lips.

Hey Instagram fans! Happy Friday! Doing a little Voluma in the cheeks to lift and a little Voluma around the mouth. Voluma is a hyaluronic acid. I have it in my face and a lot of patients have it in their faces. Looks natural, it is hyaluronic acid like I said—so it christens our joints, and it is a synthetic version of it and it makes you look a little bit younger so when you look at a lot of these celebrities who don’t look like their ageing perhaps they are using a little Voluma and perhaps you should too.

Dr. Jeanine Downie displays the execution of Voluma—an filler that aids in the replenishment of the collagen that is naturally lost from the body on a yearly basis. Voluma contains hyaluronic acid which is biocompatible with the body as it exists in our joints as well. Once injected into the face, the skin will retain that youthful elasticity.

Hey Instagram fans, happy Friday, good afternoon. Here with one of my favorite patients doing a little bit of filler, Voluma. We love Voluma, it just makes you look younger, makes you look better. It’s super subtle, works great, she doesn’t want to be identified, and the bottom line is that it is one of those things, we lose a teaspoon of collagen from our face, every year from the time we’re 30. If you smoke, if you have bad tanning habits, then you can lose it even faster. But by the time we get in our late 30s/early 40s we start looking in the mirror like oh we’re looking like our auntie, we’re looking like our mom, and we love our aunts and our moms, but we want to look like ourselves. So it’s using technology to make yourself look younger and to make yourself look like your best version of your “you.” So I tell all my patients, go to somebody biased that’s like me, um because I’m biased about that, that doesn’t do too much, that does just enough to make you look better, but you don’t want to do too much with any cosmetic procedure ever. So it’s a natural sugar, it’s a hyaluronic acid, it’s in our elbows, it’s in our knees, and patients look great so please watch and enjoy.

DR DOWNIE DOES JUVEDERM VOLUMA FOR JANET'S 60TH BIRTHDAY PRESENT

The Voluma XCTM Process
Once any bacteria on the face is wiped off with alcohol, Dr. Jeanine Downie proceeds to insert the Voluma filler. Having used it herself, Dr. Downie describes it as having an immediate effect. The patient is a staff member who has undergone numbing for two hours the procedure is done.

“So I’m cleaning off the face with Hibiclens. This is to make sure that there are no extra bacteria on the face. This is after I’ve already cleaned it with alcohol. Janet has lost how much weight?”

[Patient]: “27 pounds.”

“27 pounds. Some of it unintentionally from her face. So we need to do filler. Smile. Now relax. She’s a great patient. This is Voluma. It’s what I have in my cheeks. It’s instant. You took digital pictures of her before, right? Good. How are we doing, Janet?”

[Patient]: “Good.”

“Still speaking to me? That’s good, because she works for me. She has to be able to speak to me, otherwise it would be really bad. Janet’s worried about bruising. She’s been numbing for 17, almost 18 hours. We’re joking. She’s numb for two hours. She’s a good patient. She makes me look good. She doesn’t bruise right away, which is sweet and thoughtful of her.”

And Janet’s going to be 60 in a month. Shhh… don’t tell her. So We’re doing this for her 60th birthday present ’cause we love her. She’s worked at Image for 700 years. She’s a good patient. Now look at the one side. The cheeks picked up some. Now look it over here a little bit over in here. And then the other side. We need to do a little something, something there. We can’t leave her lop-sided. Maybe if she was one of my brothers, I would do that to her. But she’s Janet. I can’t do that. OK.”

The newest filler in town—Voluma is great to get a facelift almost instantly. It is uniquely engineered to retain its effect for up to 2 years which is something that no other product on the market can say for itself. Within seconds the filler is inserted with hardly any pain inflicted on the patient and almost no visible indications of the procedure having just taken place!

[Kathie Lee]: “We’ve got the newest filler on the block that makes a facelift a thing of the past.

[Hoda]: “What is that?”

[Kathie Lee]: “It’s something called Juvederm, but it’s Juvederm with a new twist.”

[:18 seconds to :52]: Unrelated ad spots.

[Hoda]: Alright, do you have a big event coming up and you want to look a little bit younger? Well, there’s a brand new facial filler on the market called Voluma that claims it can plump you up.

[Kathie Lee]: Plump you up. Some are calling it the knife-free facelift, which can last up to two years. Dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downie is here to tell us about it and show us how it’s done. Our patient, Lynn Is-a-pon, and we promised not to show you anything that Hoda can’t handle.

[Dr. Downie]: “So this is cool. I’m going to squirt it on my glove for a second. It’s called Vycross technology. So it’s nice and thick. It goes on a soft gel. It goes on really, it goes into the skin very, very well. And it just lifts and it plumps.

[Hoda]: “What makes it different than all the other stuff that’s already out there on the market?”

[Dr. Downie]: “The technology makes it different, and the fact is that it lasts two years. And there’s no other filler that can say that it actually lasts two years. So they’ve extensively studied it.”

[Kathie Lee]: “And you said you can build on it over the two years?”

[Dr. Downie]: “Right. Because the bottom line is some people are going to come in and maybe they want to do one syringe now and wait awhile, come back, and you can build on it and do another one later. That type of thing. Side effects are normal. Bruising, little bit of tenderness.”

[Kathie Lee]: “And you did this side of the face already, and there’s no bruising at all.”

[Dr. Downie]: “Sit up for a second. So you see this side. She’s lifted some right in here. And then she’s kind of flat in here. So we’re about to do this side right now. Smile. Now relax. Now smile. Now relax. Hoda, you’re going to be fine. I’m covering. I have to keep you in mind. I want to be invited back. I’m a smart dermatologist. OK, so we’re lifting in the cheekbone area.

[Kathie Lee]: “And you’re not feeling anything, sweetie? You’re good?”

[Patient]: “Little pricks, but …”

[Kathie Lee]: “You’re a very brave woman. It’s not as bad as giving birth. I do justify to that.”

[Hoda]: “So who is this good for you, Jeanine? Can this work with anyone?”

[Dr. Downie]: “This can work with anyone, not a pregnant woman, and not somebody on immunosuppression. So thank you for asking. But even people that are on blood-thinners can come off of them for a little bit.”

[Hoda]: “And usually when you do this how long does it last? Not this kind, but the other kind normally?”

[Dr. Downie]: “Six months or less, if it’s in your lips because you talk so much it lasts a little bit less.”

[Kathie Lee]: “And how expensive is it?”

[Dr. Downie]: “It winds up being about $1,200 per syringe roughly, it depends on what part of the country you’re in, Kathie Lee.

[Kathie Lee]: “But you think about what a facelift costs and so …”

[Dr. Downie]: “And then you divide it by the number of months it’s going to last. It’s going to last 24 months.”

[Kathie Lee]: “You’re going to be gorgeous for two years! We’re going to check in on you.”

[Patient]: “We need to come back in two years.”

[Hoda]: “We should also point out that usually right after you get those injections, bruising happens right away. And we’re not seeing it on her.”

[Dr. Downie]: “She’s really good. She’s a trooper.”

[Hoda]: “Alright, Jeanine, thank you.”
