Why choose the VI peel?

Although it often goes unnoticed, your body sheds approximately 40,000 skin cells every minute. As new skin cells are generated, older cells are pushed to the surface and eventually shed into the air, during baths, or onto clothing. Given this high turnover rate, one might think that chemical peels are unnecessary. However, natural exfoliation often does not keep up with the production of new cells. This build-up can lead to a dull appearance, which highlights fine lines and wrinkles while clogging pores.

What are the benefits of VI peel?

The VI Peel can help provide a more even skin tone, reduce acne if present, and create a brighter, more uniform complexion. It’s one of the most popular peels in our office. It’s important to note that while some people might experience a peel, others may only see flaking.

What can be addressed using the VI peel?

Chemical peels accelerate the exfoliation process by dissolving dead cells in the surface layers. Thus, there is no need for harsh abrasion or laser ablation. In addition to clearer, brighter, softer skin, the right peels can tackle bigger problems like:

  • Rough skin texture
  • Dark spots from acne scars
  • Pigmented skin
  • Damage from sun exposure

Peels are also an excellent treatment for aging skin. They trigger cellular regeneration that improves laxity and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

VI Peel : Your Questions Answered

What is a VI Peel, and how does it work?

Our board-certified dermatologist describes a VI Peel as a medium-depth chemical peel designed to improve the skin’s tone, texture, and clarity. It works by combining powerful ingredients, including trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, retinol (a precursor to retinoic acid), and vitamin C, to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin. This gentle yet effective exfoliation process removes any dead skin cells, stimulates collagen production, and promotes natural cellular turnover. The result is smoother, more even, and healthier-looking skin. Dr. Jeanine Downie of image Dermatology® P.C. in Montclair, New Jersey, frequently recommends the VI Peel as it is safe for all skin types and addresses multiple skin concerns.

What skin issues can the VI Peel treat?

The VI Peel can address a wide range of skin concerns, including mild to severe acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, melasma, and uneven skin tone. It also benefits individuals looking to reduce the appearance of acne scars or sun damage. Dr. Downie often points out that the VI Peel is versatile, as it works on the face, neck, chest, arms, and even hands. If you are searching for a treatment that addresses multiple issues at once, the VI Peel is an excellent choice.

Is the VI Peel painful?

The VI Peel is designed to be a comfortable experience. Most patients report a slight tingling or warming sensation during treatment, which is manageable and subsides quickly. Dr. Downie assures her patients that the peel is non-invasive and gentle on the skin. The treatment is quick, making it easy to fit into a busy schedule without enduring significant discomfort.

How long does it take to see results?

While the timeline for visible results varies among individuals, most patients begin to see a difference after three VI chemical peels. Many people, for a variety of reasons, including overall skin hydration, may not peel at all but will still see a more even skin tone after a few VI peels and achieve great results. Not everyone peels. Additionally, Dr. Downie highlights that the skin’s continued improvement over several weeks is one of the most exciting aspects of the VI Peel.

Are there any side effects or downtime?

The VI Peel requires minimal downtime, making it an appealing option for those with busy and active lifestyles. Side effects are generally mild and may include redness, peeling, and a temporary sensation of skin tightness. Dr. Downie advises her patients to follow her post-peel care instructions carefully to ensure the best results and minimize any discomfort.

How do I care for my skin after a VI Peel?

After a VI Peel, it is vital to protect your skin and promote healing. You should avoid any direct sun exposure, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, and moisturize consistently to maintain hydration. Our team provides patients with a post-peel care kit that includes everything needed for recovery, ensuring the best results while prioritizing skin health.

Can everyone benefit from the VI Peel?

Yes! One of the reasons Dr. Downie loves the VI Peel is that it suits all skin types and tones. Whether you are dealing with stubborn acne, signs of aging, or hyperpigmentation, the VI Peel can address your specific concerns. She emphasizes that a consultation is essential to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique skin needs.

The VI Peel in Montclair is the ideal treatment for all skin types, including skin of color. Call Image Dermatology and see how this peel can help change your life.

I have been using the VI Peel for about 4 to 5 years at this point. My patients are very happy, they think that it works well. When it comes to treating skin of color I feel like the VI Peel compares very well to a lot of the other peels. The good news is that this is a peel that can be used on all skin types and some peels—some of the stronger peels that I don’t use in my clinical practice cannot be used on all skin types. One of my most, memorable patients William was having a tough time at work. She had some severe sun damage, and melasma and people were questioning what she had on her face, and we did 6 treatments with the VI Peel and she feels like it changed her life.

Hey Instagram fans, happy Friday! Talking about the VI Peel, that is one of my favor-ite peels, it’s a medium depth peel, it helps with texture, tone, acne, fine lines, and it makes you get that good glow factor. So I do a lot of VI Peels on Thursdays and Fridays, they’re good for the Saturday, and they peel a lot, probably the Sunday into the Monday, sometimes the Tuesday. My patients love it, they work great, you can use it for all skin types, and it’s a proprietary blend of ingredients is what I like to say when people are like “what’s in it?” I’ve used it for years, high level of patient satisfaction, I use it in a lot of my male patients as well as tons of my female pa-tients. We use it on the face, we use it on the neck, the chest, the back, and the legs, so kind of all over. So please watch and do enjoy.
