RECAPTURE A YOUTHFUL LOOK WITH RESTYLANE® TREATMENT

Men and women look younger with Restylane dermal filler treatment

Once, the only way to reverse signs of aging was facelift surgery, usually performed after wrinkles were firmly established. Today, women and men in the Montclair, NJ area have nonsurgical options to resolve lines, wrinkles, and lax skin, and even delay their formation. Hyaluronic acid fillers play an important role in any rejuvenation or “pre-juvenation” approach, and Restylane treatment is a premier choice.

WHAT ARE COSMETIC FILLERS?

Restoring skin volume is straightforward with dermal fillers. These products are placed into skin at varying depths to smooth lines, soften wrinkles, fill indentations, and bring lift to the top half of the face.

The primary ingredient in Restylane is hyaluronic acid, a carbohydrate that occurs naturally in the human body, incorporated into a smooth biocompatible gel. The gel instantly supplements facial volume, while the hyaluronic acid binds with water molecule internally, for additional plumping. Meanwhile, introduction of the product stimulates natural collagen production, for long-term skin thickening and tightening. That’s why Restylane results last up to a year.

There are five Restylane products in varying thicknesses, so treatment is carefully tailored to your skin type and your rejuvenation goals. An injection session takes less than an hour, and there is little or no social downtime. You my return to work or other activities right after your appointment.

What is Restylane and how can it be used as a filler? If you looking for a filler to get plumper lips, Restylane is for you. Watch this video as Jeanine B. Downie, M.D. from Image Dermatology® P.C. explains.

What is Restylane?
Restylane is a hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic acid is something that is found in your elbow, knees, and all your joints.

It is a stabilized form of hyaluronic acid, which is not an animal form of hyaluronic acid.

What are the areas Restylane can be used as a filler?
It was the first hyaluronic acid filler. On the label, it was used on the nasolabial folds. It also works well in the lips and as an under-eye filler.

How long do the results of Restylane last?
Restylane lasts under the eyes for easily ten months or longer. There is a new version called ‘Restylane Kiss’ for the lips, which is FDA approved. It lasts easily for six months.

The duration depends on how much you talk, chew, and eat or laugh. Lip fillers tend to wear off faster than under-eye fillers because you cannot move the area under your eyes.

What are the side effects of Restylane filler?
The main side effects are swelling, bruising, and redness. Those are temporary and tend to go away.

Dr. Jeanine Downie has extensive training and experience in dermal filler treatment. She may recommend Restylane injections for:

  • Apples of cheeks, lifting the mid-face and raising sagging skin below it
  • Hollows under eyes
  • Facial wrinkles, including deep laugh lines
  • Nasolabial folds from each side of the nose to the mouth
  • Marionette lines that extend downward from the mouth
  • Downturned corners of the mouth
  • Lip enhancement – definition and shape as well as augmentation
  • Backs of hands

Acne is everybody’s problem – not just teenagers, and majority of people who have acne deal with it the wrong way including picking and popping them. Dr. Jeanine Downie discusses how stress, genetics and hormones along with sensitivity to dairy products can lead to breakout. From retinols to peroxide what you need to know and all about getting your pimples under control. Problems like Rosacea are very common during seasonal changes and Dr. Downie discuss what can help to lower the redness from physical activities to very common items of food that is consumed on a very regular basis.

We all want flawless skin right but it could be a hard fought battle getting flawless skin and here to teach us how to transform our biggest skin woes into wows is dermatologist Dr Jeanine Downie welcome back! Great to be here. So let’s talk acne first, because tis i not just teenager who get acne. No, it’s also people over the age of 20 as well, who attests to that occasionally – absolutely. So let’s talk about drug store fines vs. Doc fines. Which would be best? absolutely – so a 100 percent of teenagers get acne an about 50 percent of women over the age of 20 get acne and a ton of men get acne also. That a huge percentage. When you start thinking about it at least a 100 million Americans according to the American academy of dermatology if not more. I am glad I am not the only one – you are so not the only one, I have like a zit the other day on my face, it is really awful – so drug store – there is a lot of cool things over the comer, there is Benzoyl Peroxides there are all kinds of cleansing gels and foams, and toners and everything like that and then if you are not a lot bettering 2 weeks Christina you really need to go seek the help of a board certified dermatologist. I like Effie Dos – it is one of those main stays it has Benzol Peroxide in it 2.5 percent and then it has .5 percent of the dactalyn which is a retinoid, so you mix the 2 of them together and then you get this great anti acne treatment that is not too dry that is great enough for teenagers, great enough for adults, my patients love it, does not irritate their skin and a lot of people use it as a spot treatment right on the can pimple and a lot of people have diffuse acne – they use it kind of all over, it is effective it kind of works well and now it is FDA approved for kids as young as 9 – Wow! Because children as young as 9 are getting acne! Yeah so that is a new indication for this, and this is prescription only? Yep and how would you use this? Daily? Would it be every other day? I tend to have my patients use it daily in the morning but it varies form person to person a lot of people like to use it 2 a day and some people will only use it 3 times a week so I tailor it to their individual regiment depending on whether their skin is oily, skin is dry or if your skin is combination – what bout what causes it? Is it the foods we eat? Is it the way we sleep? Its stress, hormonal fluctuations, and the family history – those are the 3 main causes of acne. They did studies back in 2009, 2010, and determined a discreet portion of us have a sensitive to dairy some they say – so if you feel like dairy yoghurt, cheese, milk breaks you out you could actually be right and we think that it might be the hormones that are found in those foods but even if you are eating organic – it is no exact perfect modifier of this because organic cows if you over milk them you can stress them and they can produce their own internal hormones that they secrete into your organic milk. So if you can’t go into the doctor you don’t have time right now and you want to get something at the drug store, something with Benzo peroxide is probably best? Something with Benzo Peroxide is great and a lot of people will use a stringent and toner until they can get to the dermatologist – my main thing, don’t pick – do not pick okay! No popping! That is good advice. Let’s move onto rosacea – it’s the time of year where everyone seem to have I due to the winter weather so what is a good pick for the drug store and what would be great if people were coming into the office? So rosacea affects somewhere between 16 and 20 million Americans we think even upwards of that, yet 78 percent of people when you ask them what rosacea is they don’t know so your rotated red skin that can come from stress, your family history – sun and stress are the 2 main things. Drinking coffee can make the redness in your face flare, hot baths, spicy foods can wine can, alcohol in general can especially wine. These are things that I’m not saying don’t do any of these things but be aware that these are some of the rosacea triggers and so that is significant so I tell my patients if it is sun and stress I tell them to exercise to decrease their stress level that they have to drink a lot of ice water while they are exercising otherwise third face gets really red while thy exercise and they need to wear sunblock every day, so this is a great over the counter – with the SPF 50 in it, and then the Christian Dior is a department store which is also an spf 50 you want 30 or above and you want to wear this every single day rain or shine. Critical for rosacea patients, and then for something if it is a little bit more severe you have something else? Right so sulantra is actually new as in this week new. It is a new prescription drug that I s FDA approved that is anti-inflammatory that is fabulous in terms of treating papules and pustules and some of the redness associated with rosacea. It is tolerated well non irritating and people love it. And lastly wrinkles, this is a hot topic so I have some Restylane as I like to say in my own face so I like to believe in it, so over the counter intense hydration for anti-wrinkle is great but if you can afford an injectable these ranges depending on where you are in the country to 600 dollars to over a 1000 dollars for a syringe, Restylane silk is the latest in that and we will look at some lip that I have before and after that I have up here your viewers that had Restylane Sylk so you could see the difference. So it is fabulous so it has really decreased the fine line and wrinkles that last for at least 6 months if not longer and people really love it and it is tolerated really really well. Dr. Downie thank you so much you are the greatest we will be right back stay with us.

Dr. Oz Show | March 7th, 2010

Dr. Oz Show | March 7th, 2010
Dr. Jeanine Downie gives Tracy an under eye bag makeover on the Dr. Oz show with FDA-approved filler that contains natural components like hyaluronic acid found commonly in the body between joints. Tracy undergoes no pain and comes out of the event looking younger.

I hear you might be carrying around under your eyes – it is the bags and the dark circles for many of us complain about. Dr. Jeanie Downie is a dermatologist and Tracy wants something done to erase those problems she has under her eyes. Tracy how are you? Good. Good so you have some numbing cream on tier – what does that make up? It is numbing cream (laughing) I thought so. So tell us a little bit about why and what these under eye bags are about – I want the under eye bags dealt with because as I get older I have dark circles and indentations, as a result of ageing. Can you see that? You can see they are pretty typical – so basically right underneath here what we do I we have number her she has number for about an hour underneath here and we use hyaluronic acid under the eyes, you can use Rosalyn you can use Juvéderm under the yes, this is an off label use Doctor Oz so in other words this is something that is FDA approved for this area, it is off label up here it is only to be done by skilled practitioners. I have been doing filer since 1994, (laughs) I love this – yeah want me to hold your hand? Are you nervous? A little bit – alright! This is one of my favorites. So we are going to just, let me just kind of get in here – can everyone see okay? You okay? Yes – so you kind of go underneath the muscle right here you plump it up – you can see it flinging up almost instantly. Can people appreciate that? You have your fingers there – here we go okay. I hope these look more painful than I hope they are. Does that hurt you? No it is not painful and then you literally sooth it out here so. So you use Restylane with hyaluronic acid naturally found in your joints. So it is found in your elbows and in your knees and in your joints, and you can’t be allergic to it – and basically you just kind of smooth it into place right after that – so these are also a trickle of fluid to them? Exactly and she was very hollow. Does that hurt you? Not at all are you kidding me! She numbed for an hour and she is a good patient. Thank you. Can people seem to appreciate that now? Ok – Gosh now can everyone being to appreciate the right from the left eye – just compare the 2 eyes so you can sort of see a difference it is pretty profound already – yeah. Let me just move that into place a lite bit – sorry about that. That’s ok! Oh my goodness! You know what do me a favor just look up to that camera. Yeah look up at the camera and actually the care right there! And her skin looks a little stretched with the dark circles are a bit lighter also. So no discomfort huh? No discomfort I got to say that is the most surprising thing about this whole assignment to me – we have not had are you don’t or do you have a little bits more? I have little bit more – go ahead finish up I don’t want to take away her beauty. And then I am going to do her other eye back behind set, if she was my brothers I would leave it one done and one not done. But she is not my brother. And what does this cost properly? 750 a syringe for the Restylane so not cheap it stays for about 8 months to a year and some people hole on to it for 2 to 3 years afterwards because it actually stimulates collagen in the area Dr. Oz. so you do oth eyes it would probably be about 1500 dollars? Roughly? Yeo and then it stays for about a year. Mhmm – what do you think? I like it! Well okay! Great! Well if you wanted to avoid the bags under your eye some of those circles that are starting you can get injections with hyaluronic acid and you can get over the counter anti histamines because a lot of folks have the bags because they have allergies hose allergies are often because of the pillows you are sleeping on, they have all kinds of residue that builds up over time in the, so you can use some of those thin, micro ones pillow cases that don’t let any of the junk that is in the pillow cases, get out in to your faces as you sleep. Also sleep on your back it will allow whatever swelling that is in your face to come out during the course of the evening – easy opportunities in all our lives to reduce the bags and if not you always have the option that Jeanie Downie has come down for today. I want to thank all of our doctors and especially to our patients, up next a few home remedies to turn back the clock without a trip to the doctor’s office. Do they really work? We will find out next – be right back.

What is Restylane?

What is Restylane?
A purely natural and animal protein free filler; Restylane is a class apart from any other filer on the market, with exceedingly great results. Dr. Downie displays before and after photos for the audience to see the difference for themselves.

Restylane is used for the temporary correction of moderate to severe facial correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkle and folds such as nasal labia folds, this woman had her nasal labia folds corrected, this is how she looked before the procedure and this is after. This woman also had her nasal labial folds corrected. This was how she looked before the procedure and after – in terms of Vera right here she is not happy with these deep lines especially these ones on this side and so here we have numbed her and I am injecting her with Restylane and that is like a natural body sugar and I am injecting it into her folds and she is very happy with the procedure. And I am smoothing the Restylane out and it lasts for moths – you can see this side has been done and this side hasn’t. Restylane distinguishes itself form other filler in many ways – unlike Bovine and other human based Collagen and hyaluronic acids, Rosaline is free from animals proteins . it uses natural fermentation rather than animals, it is a good source of hyaluronic acid – and no allergy testing is required another importance of the gel used in Restylane is its prolonged residence time in the tissues the nasal gel concentration is 20 mg per milliliter of stabilized hyaloric acid – this concentration has been carefully selected to provide optimum maintenance for volume of tissue augmentation and lifting. Restylane is very popular. It is a hyaluronic acid filler and basically we put it most popularly in between lines here between the nose and the mouth. Francis already has great lips and what we do is we actually help to build collagen as well as the fact that the lines won’t get too deep. Dedicated to helping patients attain a healthy and youthful appearance in self-image due to their effectiveness and quality and elegance the company’s products have earned live acceptance becoming leaders in a number of therapeutic categories. Who could be biter to bring you the world market leading restorative product? Restylane – you can really help yourself. You can see me injecting and you can see that Jessie is frowning really hard on the shots right there and I am injecting the shots right into her Globelar region which is the are between he eyes which is the most common area people have it done these day – however more and more we are doing it underneath the arm t helps people to stop sweating for up to 6 months. The stars are really into it Ally – and look at Jessie. And now try to frown Jessie? She can’t frown because she can’t move these muscles. Jessie can’t frown. Jessie is going to be happy for the rest of her lie whether she likes it or not. 3 months the Botox will last and I am seeing more and more men come in for the procedure between the ages of 30 and 60 – they think of it as a facial advantage – they want to look younger. Did the shots hurt Jessie? Slightly uncomfortable but not really. Worth it? Definitely worth it and a tiny bit of bruising up here – but that goes away in a couple of days – happy happy Jessie you can expect to see noticeable improvements in a matter of days and you may continue to improve during the first week after treatment optimal results should be visible within 30 days.
