Linder Chemical Peels

Why patients will flake lightly but not peel heavily and still get very excellent results:

Aromatic exfoliating agents like Mandelic Acid and Salicylic Acid are known to exfoliate facial skin in more microscopic particles, which is even more pronounced when organic solvents like ethanol, iso-propanol and the likes are used. Exfoliation still occurs to a significant level, however, to the human eye it appears more like light flaking and dust (especially visible if black garments are worn), as opposed to acids that peel the skin in larger chunks, (for example TCA in predominantly a water solution and Glycolic Acid, which produce sunburn-like peeling).

The biggest difference with these traditional peeling agents is truly in the size of the chunks of the skin that are peeling-macroscopic vs microscopic, and is not necessarily an indication of the amount of exfoliation taking place.

Hi, I’m Jeanine Downie. I’m a cosmetic dermatologist. I practice out of Montclair, New Jersey. My practice is image Dermatology ® P.C. , and I’m the director of image Dermatology ® P.C. .

The patients that I would use this for would include any patient that is complaining to me about dryness of their skin. And that would be any of the cosmetic areas that we’re worried about. It would be face, it would be neck, it would be upper chest, and the backs of their hands. So anybody that has a little bit of flaking to a lot of overt dryness the product would be good for.

Definitely good for males and females. My male patients are liking the product. It’s not too thick and it’s not too heavy, and in terms of age range, I would say it really doesn’t matter. It could be 20s and even teens to 80s or even 90s.

A lot of my patients that I would use this HA5 for would be patients that are acne-prone. If you think about it, there are at least 100 million Americans that are affected by acne. And there are many, many more across the world. So when you’re looking at acne patients, you look at people that want to be moisturized, that may be dry from acne medications, but don’t want to be greasy at all. This product is light, it’s not going to block their pores, it’s not going to break them out, so it’s something that can be used consistently in these patients.

And for a lot of my male patients that might have folliculitis or hair bumps in their beard area but still actually want some hydration in there, this would be a good product for them as well.

One of the other things that I wanted to mention about HA5 is that it’s something that’s good for all skin types. It is clear, it goes on and it’s color-blind, so it’s not going to give you a whitish or a pinkish cast to your skin so that’s something that’s excellent also. So therefore for a lot of my patients that are worried about it rubbing off on their clothing or what it’s going to look like on their particular skin type, this is actually not a worry. And again my areas of focus are the face, the neck, the upper chest and the backs of the hands in particular.

My patients’ experience with the HA5 product has been good thus far. They feel that their skin is more hydrated. They feel that the HA5 is not breaking them out at all. They like the way that their skin looks afterwards. They feel like they have more glow than they did before. So I would say they feel moisturized, they feel hydrated, they don’t feel greasy at all, and they’re pretty happy. So if my patients are happy, I’m happy.

Drew had melasma and then it was aggravated by sun damage. So basically I did a lot of chemical peels. I did Vitalize peels and they worked very well. This is sal-acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol.
