excel® V laser treatment gets the red out

excel® V laser treatment gets the red out Is your complexion flawed by ruddiness? You are not alone. Countless men and women are troubled by the appearance of redness and small veins. Dr. Jeanine Downie offers a safe and effective solution suitable for all skin types. The excel V is part of her extensive laser suite at image Dermatology ® P.C. in Montclair, NJ.

What is a vascular laser?

There is no one-size-fits-all dermatology laser. Each device is designed to target specific pigments. excel V is a vascular laser because its dual-wavelength Nd:YAG technology addresses red, brown, purple, and blue pigments in skin. Those colors are found in visible blood vessels and veins, a common skin concern.

Dr. Downie uses excel skin care to treat:
  • Vascular lesions – An overgrowth of capillaries that may be raised or flat. Hemangioma, port wine stains, and several other types of birthmarks are in this category.
  • Rosacea – Chronic blushing, flushing, and visible blood vessels that often come with blemishes and rough skin texture.
  • Diffuse redness – A large area of dilated capillaries that show through the skin.
  • Telangiectasias – Threadlike red patterns or spots usually occurring on the nose, cheeks, chin, and mucous membranes.
excel v laser therapy also improves sun damaged skin, shrinks pores, softens lines and wrinkles, and refines overall skin tone and texture.

What is Excel® V Laser Treatment? And what areas is it used for?
Excel® V laser treatment is a fabulous laser at image dermatology and has been used for years. It decreases broken blood vessels all over the face. On a different wavelength, it reduces brown spots all over the face.
On another wavelength, it decreases hair growth in lighter and darker-skinned individuals, which is simply fantastic.
It is also used to treat angiomas, port wine stains, scars, hardened hair bumps in the hairline, chest, trunk, or back.

How is the Excel® V laser treatment procedure performed?
Excel® V is used as a sweeping motion that the doctor will do on your face trying to decrease your broken blood vessels.
It can pinch and sting a bit but is comfortable. After the procedure is over, you might be a little reddish for maybe an hour, and it goes away very fast.
You will not have those deep purple bruises from yesteryear on your face anymore, which is a good thing.

What is the duration of Excel® V laser treatment?
Every procedure is different. If you have a very thin scar, it will be three treatment sessions. If you have thicker scars, perhaps it is 10- plus treatment sessions.
After that, three times a year for maintenance or once every four months for maintenance.

excel® V laser treatment in Montclair, NJ: What to expect

A typical excel V treatment takes less than a half hour. Usually topical anesthetic is not needed for this gentle procedure. You simply feel warmth as the handpiece is passed over the treatment area, and possibly a slight stinging sensation as light pulses enter the skin. Then skin is cleansed, cooled with ice packs, and protected with sunscreen. You may wear makeup and return to normal activities right after your appointment.

Usually, several sessions spaced about a month apart are needed for optimal clearance. In most cases, treated discoloration does not return (although new spots may develop over time).
