Our board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Jeanine Downie, can help you embrace the remarkable advantages of laser technology in dermatology with the GentleLASE procedure. This treatment has many benefits, including treatment as a less intrusive method, reliable results, minimized recovery periods, and unsurpassed outcomes. Let’s look closely at the GentleLASE device, how it is used for permanent hair removal, and more!

How can I revolutionize my skin with the GentleLASE laser device?

GentleLASE is best described by our team as an alexandrite or “red light” Q-switch laser, which produces brief, powerful pulses of infrared light, precisely targeting the deeper layers of skin tissue. With minimal impact on the surface skin or epidermis, it delivers controlled, therapeutic heat. A unique built-in cooling mechanism is integrated into the procedure to ensure maximum comfort. This multifaceted laser is used to treat a variety of conditions, including some of the following:

  • Facial veins. Safely reduces visible blood vessels, including blue facial veins on the nose and cheeks.
  • Leg veins. Effectively treat spider veins and blue reticular veins from the thigh to the ankle without the need for sclerosing injections.
  • Pigmented lesions. Remove benign blue, black, or brown spots, freckles, and sunspots.
  • Venous lakes.Treats soft blue or purple bumps that are a result of sun damage and may be found on the lips.
  • Beard bumps. GentleLASE eliminates the irritation caused by shaving and ingrown hairs. This treatment is also used for complete and permanent hair removal on the face and body, eliminating the need for shaving, waxing, tweezing, and depilatory creams.

How can GentleLASE be used for permanent laser hair removal?

The GentleLASE laser is particularly effective for hair removal in our local patients. Its larger spot size means more hairs are treated with each laser energy application. Pigments in hair follicles absorb the emitted light, heating and destroying those in the anagen growth phase. After the first treatment, hair becomes finer and less dense, although multiple sessions are recommended for optimal bikini, underarm, facial, and arm hair removal. Hair removal may necessitate between 10-30 sessions or more, contingent on hair growth density and treatment area size, such as the back and chest. Other factors, such as genetic background, can also impact hair density.

How long will it take to get results from laser hair removal?

Though treated hair will not return, the body continues to generate new follicles annually. However, occasional touch-ups can easily manage this re-growth and ensure permanent hair reduction and removal. We always want our patients to consider factors that may affect hair growth including genetic background, hair thickness, and hair density.

What is GentleLASE? How does GentleLASE hair removal work? Watch this video by Dr. Jeanine Downie from image Dermatology ® P.C. to learn all about GentleLASE.

Hi, I’m Dr. Jeanine Downie; I’m a board-certified dermatologist. My practice is image Dermatology ® P.C. in Montclair, New Jersey. I’m a cosmetic dermatologist. I’d love to talk to you today about the GentleLASE.

What is GentleLASE and its uses?

GentleLASE is a laser that I’ve had for a while, it is used for hair removal, freckles, and it can be used for large gnarly bluish vessels in the face.

The most common reason I use GentleLASE in my practice is for laser hair removal, and my patients love it!

How does GentleLASE for hair removal work?

Unfortunately, many people have a lot of unwanted hair. The laser helps with hair removal on the upper lip, on the chin, under the arms, private areas, legs, and all over the body.

My patients enjoy using the GentleLASE as it’s a rapid laser treatment, the sessions go very quickly, and it’s very effective.

How many treatment sessions are needed to remove hair permanently?

Hair removal takes months and months. I tell people the average person with the average amount of hair on your body will take somewhere between 20 to 25 treatment sessions.

When I removed the hair on my legs, it took me 24 treatment sessions before all the hair was gone, but now I haven’t shaved the hair on my legs for 16 years.

I tell people that it is permanent, but it does take a while.

The GentleLASE can be used on most but not all skin types, so you need to check with your board-certified dermatologist. You should not just go to a hair clinic.

What other treatments is the GentleLASE used?

We use the GentleLASE to remove freckles that people have on their hands, face, splotches on the legs or the feet. We also use it for very torturous bulb-like veins in the face around the eyes.

We sometimes use it for port-wine stains in combination with another laser, so the GentleLASE has many different uses.

I use it every single day in my practice. It’s something that you should see a board-certified dermatologist who has experience treating your skin type with laser and check-in in to see if your skin type qualifies. GentleLASE is something that I use on males and females.
