GENTLELASE IMPROVES COMPLEXIONS

GentleLASE is an alexandrite or “red light” Q-switch laser. That means it produces short pulses of intense light in the infrared spectrum. Laser energy penetrates deep layers of skin tissue, delivering controlled, therapeutic heat, with minimal impact to the epidermis. A proprietary built-in cooling mechanism ensures maximum comfort during treatment. This versatile laser can be used to treat:

  • Facial veins – It safely eliminates noticeable blood vessels, including blue facial veins, on the nose and cheeks
  • Leg veins – Spider veins and blue reticular veins from thigh to ankle can be treated effectively, without sclerosing injections
  • Pigmented lesions – Blue, black, or brown benign spots; café-au-lait birthmarks; freckles; and sunspots
  • Venous lakes – Phlebectasis are soft blue or purple colored papules on the lips, face, or ears
  • Beard bumps – Pseudofolliculitis barbae or PFB is an irritating condition caused by shaving. Ingrown hairs can be eliminated with GentleLASE treatment. Keep reading to learn more about this method of permanent hair removal.

GENTLELASE HAIR REMOVAL IN MONTCLAIR, NJ

This laser is ideal for hair removal, particularly in individuals with skin tones in the fair to mid-range. The device has a larger spot size, resulting in more hairs treated with each application of laser energy.

The light is absorbed by pigments in hair follicles, heating and destroying those in the anagen growth phase. While hair becomes finer and sparser after the first treatment, several sessions are needed for optimal bikini hair removal and underarm hair removal as well as face and arms. For male hair removal, 5 to 15 sessions may be necessary, depending on thickness of growth and size of treatment area (such as back and chest).

GentleLASE
What is GentleLASE? How does GentleLASE hair removal work? Watch this video by Dr. Jeanine Downie from image Dermatology ® P.C. to learn all about GentleLASE.

Hi, I’m Dr. Jeanine Downie; I’m a board-certified dermatologist. My practice is image Dermatology ® P.C. in Montclair, New Jersey. I’m a cosmetic dermatologist. I’d love to talk to you today about the GentleLASE.

What is GentleLASE and its uses?

GentleLASE is a laser that I’ve had for a while, it is used for hair removal, freckles, and it can be used for large gnarly bluish vessels in the face.

The most common reason I use GentleLASE in my practice is for laser hair removal, and my patients love it!

How does GentleLASE for hair removal work?

Unfortunately, many people have a lot of unwanted hair. The laser helps with hair removal on the upper lip, on the chin, under the arms, private areas, legs, and all over the body.

My patients enjoy using the GentleLASE as it’s a rapid laser treatment, the sessions go very quickly, and it’s very effective.

How many treatment sessions are needed to remove hair permanently?

Hair removal takes months and months. I tell people the average person with the average amount of hair on your body will take somewhere between 20 to 25 treatment sessions.

When I removed the hair on my legs, it took me 24 treatment sessions before all the hair was gone, but now I haven’t shaved the hair on my legs for 16 years.

I tell people that it is permanent, but it does take a while.

The GentleLASE can be used on most but not all skin types, so you need to check with your board-certified dermatologist. You should not just go to a hair clinic.

What other treatments is the GentleLASE used?

We use the GentleLASE to remove freckles that people have on their hands, face, splotches on the legs or the feet. We also use it for very torturous bulb-like veins in the face around the eyes.

We sometimes use it for port-wine stains in combination with another laser, so the GentleLASE has many different uses.

I use it every single day in my practice. It’s something that you should see a board-certified dermatologist who has experience treating your skin type with laser and check-in in to see if your skin type qualifies. GentleLASE is something that I use on males and females.

Feel free to give us a call to learn more about GentleLASE.

Treated hair does not grow back, but your body continues to produce some new follicles each year. Occasional touch-ups easily manage this re-growth.
