In gentle hands

Our nationally known dermatologist, Dr. Jeanine Downie, is happy to address any concerns you may have and answer all of your questions. She will perform a thorough examination and review your medical history to determine if you are a candidate for treatment. If you are, she will tailor a treatment plan to meet your needs. Dr. Downie knows the importance of looking and feeling good. Lip augmentation is one of many ways of improving appearance and increasing self-confidence.

Dr. Downie knows first-hand how patients may feel when deciding on the right treatment. She has used dermal fillers and Botox on herself for many years. She does all she can to ensure the procedures at image Dermatology ® P.C. are as comfortable as possible.

The lip augmentation procedure

After marking the areas to be treated; the lips are injected with a fine needle. A numbing agent, such as lidocaine, may be administered to minimize any discomfort. Therefore, it is important to tell Dr. Downie if you have a hypersensitivity to any anesthetics such as lidocaine during the consultation. Severe allergies or a bleeding disorder may be reasons lip augmentation is not recommended. Side effects can include swelling, redness, or tenderness around the injected area. However, when needed, cold compresses can reduce swelling. We recommend one or two sessions to achieve the optimal lip volume and a more youthful look around the mouth.

Restylane Silk is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural occurring substance in the body that lubricates the joints. Therefore, it is ideal for increasing volume in the lips. Other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Downie would love to talk with you further about all of your options to enhance the beauty of your lips and other areas of your face. Schedule your consultation by calling (973) 509-6900.
