Patients ask about the “liquid nose job”

Men and women are flocking to their local dermatological offices for a treatment that can improve their nose profile without surgery or any downtime – Juvéderm. The dermal filler is a popular injectable that contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that lubricates the joints such as the elbows and knees. The treatment is sometimes referred to as a “liquid nose job.” Unlike rhinoplasty or nose surgery, patients can embrace results instantly and return to work or other activities after treatment. Dr. Jeanine Downie, the founder of image Dermatology ® P.C., offers Juvéderm at her practice near Essex Fells.

Dr. Downie will ensure all makeup is removed to ensure she can see how the face animates when talking, smiling, and laughing. Her attention to detail helps her understand where the injections will be of the most benefit. She is happy to answer any patients’ questions or respond to any of their concerns before tailoring treatment plans for them.

Speaker 1: One of the newest non invasives out there is injectable. The injectable nose job, also known as the liquid nose job. And here to show us how it’s done live is Dr. Janine Downey. She’s a board certified dermatologist. She serves on new beauty magazine’s editorial advisory board. And our brave patient this morning is Jay Valerio. So good morning to both of you. Morning Savannah. Dr. Downey, first explain how this works. I mean, rhinoplasty a nose job is a big deal. This is to try to, I guess, see how you like it. Try it on for size,
Speaker 2: Right? Exactly. And it’s totally reversible. I’m doing it with Juvederm. And so Juvederm is used on label, like right over here. It’s used off. It’s fill all over the face and it’s a filler. So Jay, if you want to just lean back for a
Speaker 1: Second. Jay, how are you feeling before you go under the not knife? I’m
Speaker 2: Feeling
Speaker 1: Great. Great. I got to tell you, I’m looking at your nose. I don’t see that you have a big problem with your nose. What are you hoping to get
Speaker 2: Gets? Thank you. He just has this notch right here, Savannah. So what we do is we just inject right here, Jay, I’m sorry hun. And then you just pumps it up just a little bit right in here and it takes the notch out.
Speaker 1: Now this is reversible.
Speaker 2: So he looked at this, this is totally reversible
Speaker 1: And didn’t like it.
Speaker 2: So you see how you could undo it. You see how it’s here and then it’s indented on that side. So you see how, and then we’ll smooth it and we’ll give him a second. But you can see the results already
Speaker 1: And
Speaker 2: It definitely hurts. We tell patients all the time that we want them to try to hang in there with us. It doesn’t bleed a time as you can see. So that’s a good thing. If Matt is watching it all right now, it’s a very good thing. But the bottom line is that it’s totally tolerable and people don’t move their noses. We’re not like Samantha and be Wish, so we can’t wiggle, wiggle, wiggle our noses. So it lasts for at least a year and it is pretty cool.
Speaker 1: But if you don’t like it, then we
Speaker 2: Actually can take Len next to it and that eats up the Juvederm and that can take it right out because it’s a hyaluronic acid.
Speaker 1: So in a way there’s not a ton of risk. How expensive is it?
Speaker 2: It is roughly about seven 50 a syringe depending on what part of the country you’re in and who’s doing the procedure for you. And it takes at least one syringe
Speaker 1: And not much downtime. We’re actually going to see how it all looks here at the end of the show. So Jay, hang in there. You’re being very, very brave. We’ll see what the results are later. Kathy Lee and Hoda are going to show you how a new FDA approved chin injectable works. We’re going to do that live too. We want to turn back to that injectable nose job. The liquid nose job we showed Jay live and our last half hour. Remember this, the process took Dr. Janine Downey about five minutes. Alright Jay, our patient has had a couple minutes to recuperate and now we can see the result of how you feeling. Jay?
Speaker 2: I’m feeling great. Thank you.
Speaker 1: Did you take a look at yourself? Do you see the
Speaker 2: Difference? I did. I did. I did. So I like it. Do you guys see difference? Yeah, let stay still right there. Just straight ahead. Look straight ahead. Look straight ahead. Yeah, right there.
Speaker 1: I do see a difference
Speaker 2: Here. We did. This side was easy. This side was more complicated. He had a car accident. There was scar tissue here and then some right in the and so just makes him look even more handsome. Thank you Doc. She wants a Nicky blush.
Speaker 1: You said your wife and kids are excited about this.
Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, my daughter said she wanted to be here today and be on tv.
Speaker 1: She wanted be famous. Did it herd? Be honest. No, it was just prickling. But I have a height.
Speaker 2: Can you still smell is the question?
Speaker 1: Yes.
