What is Juvéderm XC?

There is not a right answer to this question for all patients. We only offer the highest quality products and services; all of the fillers we use are the best choice in certain situations. Each product has unique characteristics, and the choice will depend on a number of factors, including the area to be treated, the severity of wrinkles, and your desired result.

Juvéderm XC is a popular product, which was approved by the FDA over seven years ago. It remains the only FDA approved hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, with results lasting up to 12 months from a single treatment. It was also the first smooth-consistency HA filler ever developed.

Dermal fillers are injected to restore lost volume, fill in wrinkles or creases, and enhance facial contours. Many types of filler are HA based, because this is a substance naturally produced by human skin. It helps keep young skin plump, but the levels of HA decrease with age. Therefore, Juvederm is biocompatible, and easily accepted by your body with a minimal risk of reaction.

Although HA makes a great base for a dermal filler, it is not thick enough to provide a “lift” or hold its shape. To resolve this, most products are in a granular gel base. Juvéderm XC is different. It is scientifically formulated using HYLACROSS™ advanced technology. The result is a thick, stable, ultra-smooth product. It flows easily during the injection, and creates soft, smooth contours. This makes it an excellent choice for enhancing contours.
