Board certified dermatologist, Dr. Jeanine Downie, has a goal – to help you enjoy healthy skin that looks radiant. Dr. Downie and her aesthetic team at image Dermatology® provide a number of treatments to smooth and rejuvenate complexions for patients throughout the Glen Ridge area. However, skin care isn’t “once and done.” Dr. Downie doesn’t administer treatment then forget about you. The image Dermatology® team becomes your trusted partner for great looking skin before and after you receive care.

Before treatment

The best way to maintain glowing skin and prepare for dermal filler treatment is to develop a healthy daily regimen. Dr. Downie can recommend a high quality cleanser, toner, and moisturizer for your skin type. Daily broad spectrum sun protection is vital. Nutritious foods and plenty of fresh, plain water feed your skin from within.

To minimize risk of bruising or swelling at injection sites, discontinue use of vitamin E, aspirin, anti-inflammatories, and the herbal supplement St. John’s wort for at least a week before treatment. Stay out of the sun, and reschedule after your skin heals if you have a sunburn or infection. Avoid alcohol the night before your appointment for dermal filler injection, and skip strenuous exercise the day of treatment. Get a good night’s sleep to be in an upbeat frame of mind for your transformation.

Looking good before and after treatment with Radiesse

The role of dermal fillers

Soft tissue fillers serve a duel role in a customized program of rejuvenation. First, they add immediate facial volume, replacing that lost during the process of aging. Second, they encourage plumper, firmer skin from the inside by stimulating the body’s natural systems. Each formulation works in a slightly different manner and is appropriate for certain areas of the face. Dr. Downie analyzes your needs, develops an individualized protocol, and personally administers the product for safe, aesthetic results.

Radiesse is an exciting member of the dermal filler line offered at image Dermatology®. Tiny microspheres of synthetically produced calcium (not animal derived) are suspended in a smooth, water based gel. Injected into deepest areas of the face, this product perks up sagging features, strengthens the jaw line, and can even straighten the appearance of a somewhat crooked nose.

Radiesse adds volume now, to fill wrinkles. It also stimulates your body to produce additional collagen, a mesh of strong protein fibers that gives structure to skin. Over time your body absorbs the product, collagen support remains. Those beautiful results can last a year or more.

Your rejuvenation plan may include Radiesse in combination with other dermal fillers, Botox (a neuromodulator), and various skin resurfacing or laser therapies.

After dermal filler treatment

There is essentially no downtime following injections of Radiesse or other dermal fillers. You may return to work or usual activities right away. Some patients experience minor swelling or bruising, but it is mild and temporary. These side effects may be easily camouflaged with makeup. Dr. Downie will explain special instructions such as not massaging the face, avoiding temperature extremes, and scheduling follow-up sessions. Otherwise, simply resume your usual good skin care habits and enjoy your youthful look!
