Compassionate dermatologist explains how to reduce any potential side effects from Radiesse
You and your dermatologist can be the perfect team. Therefore, it is important to share all of your concerns, ask any questions, and disclose your list of medications before treatment. One of the main reasons dermatologists review your medical history and ask you various questions is to determine if a treatment is optimal for you – or not. A dermal filler treatment is no exception.
Patients in Glen Ridge and beyond know where they can find a compassionate dermatologist who will address all of their concerns and needs – image Dermatology®. Founder of the practice and nationally prominent dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downie takes the time needed to understand the unique needs of patients, so she can provide the safest and most effective treatments. She is happy to explain what can be expected throughout treatment including potential side effects and how to reduce them.
During a consultation appointment, Dr. Downie will examine the areas you wish to have treated. One of the dermal fillers she provides is Radiesse, which can be ideal for smoothing mild to moderate facial lines, creases, and wrinkles. Radiesse can reduce the appearance of aging often evident by smile lines, chin wrinkles, sunken temples, and facial sagging. Dr. Downie may not recommend Radiesse if you have allergies, are pregnant, are breastfeeding, or have a history of hypersensitivity to any of Radiesse’s components. Radiesse is not recommended for areas such as under the eyes or for lip augmentation. Dr. Downie can recommend other dermal fillers for treating these areas.
Radiesse is made synthetically from calcium hydroxyapatite, a substance that naturally occurs within the body. It contains no animal-derived ingredients, so there is minimal risk of allergic reaction. Side effects can include mild to moderate bruising or swelling but it usually resolves quickly and is a rare occurrence. Arnica, ice, and eating pineapple can decrease swelling and bruising more quickly. To reduce the potential of side effects, we take every precaution to minimize risk.
Rest assured Dr. Downie would ensure the most comfortable treatment. A numbing agent will be applied to the treatment area before injecting the substance into the skin. In addition, Radiesse is combined with an anesthetic called lidocaine to provide extra comfort. Some patients compare the injection to a pinch, but it is generally comfortable. Treatment can last 30 minutes or longer and can be ideal during a lunch break. There is no downtime, allowing you to return to work or other activities. The results of treatment last for at least 10 months, but sometimes much longer. Post care instructions include sleeping on your back.
Dr. Downie has been involved with clinical trials for dermal fillers and has been treating patients with aging skin for more than 20 years. She can personally attest to beautiful results from dermal filler treatment. Do you want to meet with a nationally known dermatologist who knows firsthand the benefits of the treatments she provides?
