Fraxel Restore is ideal to remove acne scarring, age spots, pregnancy-induced melasma, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, stretch marks, and surgical scarring. Fraxel is a superior method for rejuvenating skin for a fresher, younger glow due to the way the laser treats the skin. Fraxel Restore is considered non-ablative, which means it is gentler on your skin than other laser treatments that use high temperatures. Non-ablative procedures have less discomfort and downtime.

During the laser procedure, a slight fraction of your skin’s surface, just 15-20 percent, is affected. Pinpoint-size wounds are made in the deeper dermal layer of your skin by the laser. Patients report this feels like a slight rubber band snapping, but a topical anesthetic can be applied to help you stay comfortable. The treatment instigates a microscopic wound-healing process, whereas the skin cells renew at an accelerated pace and generate new collagen that gives skin its elasticity and resiliency.

With Fraxel’s innovative technology, the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis, is undamaged by the laser while the inner layer begins its healing process. As the top layers of skin shed naturally, the healed, collagen infused skin beneath appears. The result is that any topical imperfections or discoloring are displaced by new, clear skin that has added volume to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines.

An average treatment takes approximately 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. Post-procedure, your skin may be pink and sensitive for a few days – similar to a minor sunburn. Care should be taken to use moisturizers and a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30. The recovery with non-ablative Fraxel Restore is significantly reduced from other laser skin rejuvenation methods.

Most patients require a series of four to six sessions a month to see maximum effects.
