Restylane videos
We lose a teaspoon of volume from the face each year from the time we turn 30! It is not until we get into our late 30s, 40s, and 50s that we look in the mirror and see our mothers. The best time to see a dermatologist is the minute these facial changes start to bother you. To determine optimal treatment to maintain a youthful appearance, speak to Dr. Downie about what she would recommend. Because the loss is gradual, we don't see significant change until our 40's and 50's.
Dr. Downie, a board certified dermatologist, has helped thousands (including herself!) turn back the hands of time with dermal fillers. She has more than 15 years experience with collagen injections. When this better option became available, she was quick to master and begin using it. Many patients who feel they need invasive facelift surgery really just need to add volume to look five to ten years younger.
Dr. Downie often recommends Restylane and Perlane injectable dermal fillers. She uses these regularly on her own face to enjoy a natural-looking, youthful appearance. She was involved in some of the original clinical trials for both products, and has used them in her practice for several years, to provide amazing results with a light touch – not too much; never over-done or artificial.
Restylane and Perlane are hyaluronic acid based fillers. This synthetic, non-animal substance replicates chemical compounds that already exist in the body, so there is no risk of allergic reaction. They can be used on all areas of the face – forehead, temples, cheeks, eyes, nose, jaw line, ears, and hands. Additionally, Restylane and Perlane can improve the appearance of a bad nose job. Dr. Downie will begin by removing your make-up, listening to your goals as you show her areas of concern in the mirror, and she'll watch your facial animation while you talk so she knows precisely where to inject.
One of Dr. Downie's favorite areas to inject is under the eyes to fix the hollows and dark circles that may exist there. Both male and female patients feel they look at least five years younger and it lasts in this area for at least eight to ten months. This is one of the most popular procedures performed at Image Dermatology.
A typical treatment involves application of a topical numbing agent to help the patient be comfortable. The injections may pinch a little but the procedure is relatively painless. Depending on the number of syringes used, a session takes about 15 minutes. Results are seen immediately, and last approximately six months (up to ten months in some areas of the body). Side effects may include minor bruising and a bit of swelling, but nothing significant or bothersome.
